Lucerne Festival Academy
In partnership with the renowned Lucerne Festival (Lucerne, Switzerland), the Aventis Foundation has helped to establish
a summer academy for the interpretation and arrangement of contemporary eMusic.
The purpose is to promote young musicians and composers in particular and to give them the
opportunity to intensively study a repertoire of contemporary music in the innovative,
international, and high-quality artistic environment of the Lucerne Festival under the
artistic supervision of Pierre Boulez. The
Aventis Foundation is supporting the project since it started with
the Lucerne Festival Preview Academy in the summer of 2003.
The Lucerne Festival Academy in August/September 2009 took place in cooperation with the Lucerne Conservatory of Music and the Ensemble Intercontemporain and under the artistic direction of Pierre Boulez. One hundred fourty musicians under the age of 28 were able to participate in the Academy Orchestra or the conducting master class.
